If you're Going to Quit GW....
Why would you have a "Huge Quitting GW Sale"? I see these posts all the time in both high and low end sell forums. I can't for the life of me think of why, if someone were going to stop playing gw, that they would sell all of their stuff. If I were going to quit for good I would just give all my stuff to a buddy so that he could enjoy it. But if you're not going to play anymore why would you need the gold and/or ectos that your "Quitting GW Sale" would get you?

I would do the same if I was to quit. Just because there is a big chance that I would return some day, and perhaps the stuff I own now would lost it's value by then.
Which would give me a gold/ecto boost when I decided to play again -> get all my FoW armors in a week or so and then quit again |

Few reasons I can think of:
* Easier to give someone boat load of ectos than have them store a kijillion items and sell them off. When a friend of mine quit GW she gave me all her stuff. It filled about 9 mules. * Wants to get consumable titles or high Z-rank before leaving * Plans to come back some day, knows things fall in value, wants to get rid of stuff now |

If they were quitting Guild Wars, then it wouldn't matter. Items usually have a use in play, so it's sort of a service, if you will.

When I quit playing Ultima Online years ago, I stood around town and made little trivia games for giving away my rare items. For example, the first person to bring me 3 bottles of wine got the deed to my house and everything in it. I also dropped random bits of armor and gold in town and waited to see how long it took someone to snatch it up. It was enjoyable to pass things along to others that were either new to the game or didn't have much.
But for GW, since you don't have to pay, I'd simply stop where I was at in case I decide to pick back up later or in case anything I had could tie into GW2. |

Alot of people when the quit sell there accounts to others using a website strictly for selling accs. Yes its against the Eula but on these sites you can get an extra 10 bucks if you have a high zrank title or another example is alarge number of ectos on an account will sell for more then an account with little ectos but alot of rare high end items. Does this make sense to you?

IfI had loads of expensive minipets, armbraces, rare oldschools, high end skins or other things that would bring massive ammounts of money, then by all means would I sell them before I did quit.
That way I could buy ectos from players for all the gold, and then sell them all to the rare material trader, dumping the price of ectos a fair bit and thus costing other people in the game a sickening ammount of money in total. Griefer for life. |

If I quit, it would be easier for me to just not log on anymore than it would be for me to give everything away in multiple trade sessions. =P

Reason # 1 and 2 are the reasons I use. I've done maybe 3 quiting GW sales, took vacations everytime for about 3 months each. Also things do fall in value so if you are planning on quiting GW or taking a vacation then selling your items is the smart thing to do. Elemental swords were like 80k for req9s when I left and when I can back they were like 5k. |

Maybe theyre not actually quitting? maybe theyre using this as a way to try and get some cash to give to another account. They sell all there stuff from 1 account then sell the account itself.

sell your loot and give the money to a friend - it's far nicer than having multiple mules full of stuff dumped on you that it takes 3 weeks to sell off... trust me....

There are certain people with enough liquid assets that can be turned into "real life money". I mean think of the amount of cash you can get if say you had 50+ million in assets. This seems like an impossible amount of money but it isn't. There will ALWAYS be people in every walk of life that will have things that you can't get or are unwilling to work for. This usually results in stupid threads about people wanting this and that because they feel entitled to it somehow, but that's for another thread.
